The new item is part of a commemorative box set from the band

The Kinks have released a previously unreleased track, originally recorded in 1968. "Time Song" has a lyric video and will be part of the 50th-anniversary reissue of the album The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society.

The song, although never officially released to this day, was played during a Kinks set at the Theatre Royal in London in January 1973.

In a press release, vocalist Ray Davies revealed the reason for releasing the track after so many years: “This seems like an appropriate song to be released at this moment in British history. Like Europe, this track features a rudimentary mix that still needs to be refined.”

The album will be re-released on October 26th by BMG in physical (CD and LP) and digital formats. The deluxe edition will include a collection of singles on seven-inch vinyl, interviews, and photos from the band's personal archive.
